For a digitally resilient and decisive Netherlands
Digitalisation can no longer be regarded as a secondary issue in light of current societal, economic, and geopolitical developments. Sovereignty and digital autonomy are crucial to strengthening the competitive position of Dutch businesses. CIO Platform Nederland therefore calls on political parties to include three key themes in the digitalisation section of their election programmes.

Given current social, economic and geopolitical developments, digitalisation can no longer be seen as an afterthought. The opportunities and challenges posed by the use of digital technology will also require a lot of attention from the Lower House and government in the coming years. Sovereignty and digital autonomy are important reasons to improve the competitive position of Dutch companies and break the overly dominant positions of several suppliers.
CIO Platform Nederland calls on political parties to include the following three themes in the digitisation paragraph in their election manifestos:
- The digital economy: resilient and competitive in addition to sovereign
- Take action on artificial intelligence (AI) and innovation.
- Appoint a Minister of Digital Affairs.
We explain these three themes further in a two-pager.
