How this initiative started
Arjen de Ruiter, working at Essent and a member of CIO Platform Nederland, explains: "At Essent, we have been collaborating with Refugee Talent Hub for some time. Essent colleagues volunteer as mentors within the Essent mentoring program. Together with newcomers, they work on building a strong CV, finding suitable jobs, and solving practical questions to help them navigate the Dutch labor market. But we want to create more impact. That’s why we explored with Refugee Talent Hub how to deepen our collaboration and make a bigger difference—for example, by filling vacancies with tech talent. This led us to Harvest."
Essent has been working with Harvest for years. Harvest connects highly educated tech talent with a STEM background to organizations through a high-quality Post-Master Program. After completing the Harvest year, participants join organizations and contribute at a high level. Harvest and Refugee Talent Hub are joining forces to give technically skilled refugees a fresh professional start. Harvest is offering 15 spots free of charge in its Post-Master programs. Participants receive masterclasses, coaching, and guidance from a technical mentor. The program looks roughly like the diagram below and will be tailored based on the participating organizations and candidates.
In short, we are looking for organizations that want to make an impact by offering a position to motivated engineers with a strong technical foundation. No additional investment is required. Vacancies often already match the need. The only thing that changes is the life of a person who deserves a chance.
Will you join us?
1 + 1 = 2: A candidate with a tech background via Refugee Talent Hub, combined with Harvest’s training, is a proven success formula. Even more powerful: what if we do this with 15 companies and give 15 motivated candidates a flying start?
