Simone Werner becomes the new CIO and CDO at UWV

Members in the News: Simone Werner has been appointed as the new Chief Information Officer (CIO) of UWV. As of 1 May 2026, she will lead the digital direction of the public agency. In her dual role as CIO and Chief Data Officer (CDO), Werner will have end responsibility for the digital strategy, information management, and the organization’s complex data landscape.
Simone Werner has been appointed as the new CIO and CDO of UWV at a time when the organization is facing major challenges in service delivery and legacy IT. Her mandate focuses on recovery and renewal: modernizing the complex IT and data landscape and better aligning it with UWV’s digital strategy. Werner brings extensive experience from both the public and private sectors and is well known within UWV, where she previously served, among other roles, as Deputy CIO. With her appointment, UWV explicitly opts for continuity, internal expertise, and an acceleration of the transformation through the ‘Verandermotor’.”
