SVB withdraws major tender for IT infrastructure
The SVB is withdrawing the European tender for the renewal of its IT infrastructure. The decision comes in response to the changing geopolitical landscape and new European and national requirements for ICT procurement. The organisation is now exploring alternative options, with a strong focus on digital security, reliability, service delivery and digital sovereignty.
The tender, with an estimated value of up to €300 million and a potential duration of fifteen years, was intended to place a large part of the IT infrastructure with a single supplier. The Dutch Advisory Board on ICT Assessment (AcICT) had previously warned about risks related to vendor lock-in, continuity, market competition and the loss of in-house expertise.
The SVB will continue to modernise its IT infrastructure and expects to provide clarity on its new direction in the first half of 2027. Critical processes, such as the payment of state pensions (AOW) and child benefits, will remain outside the public cloud.
