Reaction CIO Platform Nederland to legislative proposal to enable sharing of cybersecurity information
Wednesday 14 July 2021 The State Secretary for Economic Affairs and Climate Change recently submitted the bill on promoting digital resilience in companies for consultation.
This bill should make it possible to share information about vulnerabilities, incidents and specific threats on the Internet and in digital technology, which is available to the government, more widely than just with the central government and providers of vital services.
CIO Platform Nederland has been pressing for this for some time, both in letters to the ministers concerned and in the media. We therefore welcome the Act. In our response, however, we have called for attention to keep the thresholds for sharing such information as low as possible. This should prevent that in practice a lot of information still does not find its way to companies because of procedures that are too strict and time consuming, for example to protect privacy.
