CIOPN has four recommendations for informateurs in establishing the coalition agreement’s outline

CIO Platform Nederland has sent a letter to the informateurs drawing their attention to the interests and issues of the business user.

CIOPN appeals to the informateurs to consider the interests of the business user of digital technology in the drafting of the coalition agreement’s outline. Only then can the opportunities of digitisation be redeemed by the Dutch economy and society. CIOPN has four focal points:

  • Work on resilience – prevent a ‘vendor lock-in’
There is a so-called ‘vendor lock-in’, which allows software providers to demand higher prices, to take more liberties with regards to the business user, and generally ignore the customer's preferences and requirements
  • Ensure continued access to data: Business users should always be in control of their own (meta-)data, also in case you want to transfer them to another Cloud service.
  • Compliance with laws and regulations requires a feasibility test in advance: New legislation requires a feasibility test via laws and regulations, that tests whether the party on whom obligations are imposed, is capable of meeting those obligations. Business users cannot bear responsibility for obligations that they are inherently unable to comply with.
  • Improve cybersecurity
The cybersecurity of public and private organisations must increase through earlier knowledge sharing and increased investment.

The cross-border character of the issues on the digital market means that solutions have to be sought on the national level as well as in European cooperation.

The CIOPN is keen to share the knowledge and expertise of its diverse constituency with the informateurs.
