The CIO of the Year Award was established to recognize CIOs for their groundbreaking leadership.
Winners excel at connecting technological and organizational change, creating business value, and inspiring their peers.

The professional association CIO Platform Nederland, which has been content partner and co-host of CIODAY for two decades, aims to intensify its collaboration with ICT Media, the organizer of the event and the awards.
To that end, Martijn Koning, chairman of the CIO Platform and CDO at AutoBinck Group, has taken on the role of jury chair for the CIO of the Year Award.
He succeeds Bernhard van Oranje, founder of Levi9, who held the position for twenty years.“We thank Bernhard for his dedication to past editions. His sharp tech-entrepreneurial mindset and probing questions to nominees were crucial.

With Martijn Koning as jury chair and representative of the CIO Platform, we bring the award closer to home: by, for, and with CIOs,” says Rob Beijleveld, initiator, jury member, and CEO of ICT Media and the Digital Knowledge Institute.

The CIO of the Year Award jury also includes: Berry Diepeveen, Senior Partner & Managing Director at BCG, Tjibbe van der Zeeuw, co-founder of Squadra, Aart Rupert, CDO at Damen and winner of the 2023 award (winners rotate into the jury), Erik Beulen, Professor of Information Management at the University of Manchester and, since mid-2025, Program Director at the Digital Knowledge Institute Netherlands This brings an academic foundation to the award’s criteria.

The Tech Hero Award, also presented at CIODAY, honors pioneering organizations.
Nominees have built their business around a digital core. They are future-proof and structured to quickly adapt to technological and societal developments.
The Tech Hero Award jury consists of Martijn Koning, Nick Smaling (BCG), Rob Beijleveld, Job Voorhoeve (Amrop) Erik Beulen,  Matthijs Welle, CEO of Mews and winner of the Tech Hero Award 2024 (new jury member this year)
